Youth Boys at Fort Hunt

Schedule ...

Match Schedules have been posted for all teams  ... under Game and Event Schedule tab

Who we are ...

Western Loudoun Rugby Football is a U-19 club in the Virginia Rugby Union.  We have a boys and a girls team.  We also support a developmental youth side.

All Loudoun County (and surrounding area) high school students, ages 14-18 are eligible to play.
Experience is not necessary - you just need a desire to play!  Our home field is Franklin Park in Purcellville, VA.

The Season ...

Practices begin in February.  Games begin in March and end with tournament play in June.

Cost ...

per player is $125.00 for HS, $75 for youth players.
This covers the the CIPP (group insurance) fee, the cost associated with reserving a Parks & Rec field, and pizza socials following home games.  It’s traditional for the home team to host the visitors.  It’s all about sportsmanship and brotherhood.
Shorts & socks are additional, but can be purchased at discounted prices through a number of retailers, or you can add $20 to the registration cost.  See the paper work cover sheet here
Parents are asked to provide snacks/drinks on a rotating schedule on game days.

Uniforms/Gear ...

The jerseys belong to the club and are provided on game days.  Players wear black shorts and black socks.
Mouth guards and cleats are required.  The cleats must be soccer or rugby style, which means they cannot have toe cleats like those for football.  Ask one of the coaches if there’s any question as to whether or not the “boots” you have are acceptable.

Mondays are Jersey days at Your Schools -- Wear them proudly!!

Play Policy ...

Attendance at practices is required and helps determine game day playing time.  Simply, if you come to practice, you will play in the game.

Captains are chosen early in the season by a vote of fellow players.

The captains pick the starting 15 with input from the coaches each week there is a game.

We typically try to play an “A” side game and a “B” side game each game day because we want everyone to play.

Rugby is a game that encourages fellowship and sportsmanship.  If an opponent does not have enough players for two games, a player’s playing time may be limited to the first or second half of a game.
The coaches will decide if you have safely mastered tackling, being tackled, rucking and mauling before you play.
Our club frequently fills in for missing players for visiting teams.  This is a great chance to build your skills and learn the game from a different perspective.  In rugby, playing time is playing time.

Coaches...

The coaching "staff" for WLRFC is a seasoned group of individuals dedicated to the advancement of youth rugby.  The head coach is certified by Rugby Virginia, and the Team Manager has several years of club administration.  The assistant coaches have close to 60 years of combined playing and coaching experience.

"It's amazing what a team can accomplish when no one cares who gets the credit."
